Competition of Solutions

The proposals are currently being evaluated by a jury of experts. The results will be announced in mid-February 2010.

We know the solution is out there, maybe hidden in the brain of a great inventor, in the notebook of ideas of a big creator, or maybe in the corner of a laboratory in some university. This competition aims to shaken creative souls with the purpose of creating a real solution for real needs. We know the world of problems exist. We want to prove that there is also a World of Solutions!

In our recent Competition of Problems that took place in this website, people with disabilities, Disabled People’s Organizations, and anyone interested in the topic posted problems and obstacles that they face, and voted on those they believed were most relevant.

Through the Competition of Solutions we seek innovative and technological answers to the five problems with the most votes. The inventors of the five most appropriate pilot ideas will be provided with financing of up to $20,000. The competition ends October 15, 2009.

The most voted problems have been transformed into the following categories:

  1. Software for people with visual disabilities, especially in the work place
  2. Toys for All
  3. Access to transport
  4. Educational resources for Deaf children
  5. Working from home – how can technology help people with physical disabilities work from home?

How to participate: Carefully read the guidelines(doc), take note of what problem category your invention belongs to, and fill out the application form(doc) and send it to innovation@iadb.org

Participate, We want to bring ideas to life!
